Biography:

Nicole David was born in St. Lucia on March 2nd 1974. Her mother who lived in St. Lucia for a number of years made the decision to go back to her homeland in St. Vincent. Nicole was just two years old at the time.
In St. Vincent she attended the Methodist Infant & Primary School, after successfully passing her Common Entrance Exams she then went on to the Emmanuel High School in Kingstown.
Nicole has always had a strong passion for singing, throughout her childhood she was heavily involved in music. At school she was always amongst the first choosen to participate in music and drama festivals, but since church was a huge part of her life she became involved in everything. Almost every Sunday morning she would do a solo rendition and would just thrill the congregation, It was there her choir master recognised the talent she possessed and he decided to give her the chance to do what she so loved to do best. He co-founded a youth band, they were called “The Sapphires” and at only 11yrs old she became the lead singer of the band and the youngest member. At that tender age her ability to reach her audiences was profound, the young group became very popular, they performed at every gospel concerts all over St. Vincent and the Grenadines, but the group did not last because everyone including Nicole grew up and took different paths.
After high school Nicole David moved to Canada where she continued her singing, she got herself enrolled in a music school in Montreal and did one year of vocal training. There in Montreal she worked doing odd jobs like, assisting patients in nursing homes and also consultant for a company called Allouette Cosmetics to earn a living. Apart from that life in Canada was very simple until one evening faith brought her to this place called the Curry House. She was hanging out with a group of friends listening to the sweet sound of a live band named Groove Masters, they played at the Curry House frequently but it was the first time she had ever seen or heard them. Nicole’s girlfriend decided she wanted to hear her sing and approached a guy playing a bass guitar, she asked, “can you play I will always love you by Whitney Houston”? That was that! Nicole David was standing on that stage singing Whitney Houston’s I will always love you and was anchored three times. The manager of the group immediately gave her a job as lead singer of the group. Being with the group allowed her the opportunity to perform alongside many top Caribbean and World music artist and bands such as Sparrow, Crazy, Edwin Yearwood & Crossfire, Ronnie Mc Intosh, Iwa George, Denise Belfont, Miriam Makeba, etc. She gained a lot of experience and knowledge by watching some of these very talented stars. She wanted to be like them in that, she wanted to be a recording artist performing her own material but the band was far from that. After a few years of working with Groove Masters touring many places Nicole decided to return home, not where she grew up but the place where her naval string was buried, St. Lucia.
Nicole David moved to St. Lucia in 1997 not knowing how her life was going to unfold, but little did she know……
